ICYMI: Virginian-Pilot Editorial Board: Plenty Of Reasons To Cheer Cable Manufacturer’s Move To Chesapeake

In case you missed it, in an editorial published yesterday in the Virginian-Pilot, the Pilot’s Editorial Board praised the LS GreenLink USA cable manufacturer’s move to build a facility in Hampton Roads, referencing the announcement as “the spark our region needs to finally ignite its potential as a hub for renewable energy production and innovation.”

The editorial goes on to explain just how monumental this decision is not only for the Hampton Roads area, but for the entire Commonwealth. The company moving here shows that Virginia is set to be a leader in the green energy space thanks to progress in the offshore wind industry and the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project.

There is a reason that Virginia is experiencing the levels of success that come with this growing industry. According to the Editorial Board:

“It’s one thing to have natural benefits, such as the deep-water harbor, or other advantages, such as the port facilities, and quite another to leverage those attributes to build a next-generation, forward-looking economic sector.”

As this progress continues and more companies and industries flock to our region to take advantage of this booming industry, Virginia is going to continue to reap the benefits. We look forward to continuing to support the offshore wind industry and all its positive developments.
